The short answer
You can order a measurement pack directly from UKradon or another validated laboratory. If you need help deciding what to arrange, send an enquiry with details of the property and any previous results.
Choose a suitable provider
UKHSA operates a laboratory validation scheme for domestic radon measurements. Check the provider’s current validation status and the service included. Trade association membership is not the same thing as laboratory validation.
Before you enquire
Have the full property address, type of building, occupied rooms and any previous test report available. Mention basements, recent extensions, changes to ventilation or existing mitigation systems.
Plan for the full testing period
The measurement period and laboratory turnaround are separate. A typical three-month test does not produce a definitive result within a few days of ordering. Ask the chosen provider for its current reporting times.
After the test
Keep the report even if reduction is not recommended. If the building changes materially, or you install mitigation, ask the laboratory or specialist whether a new test is appropriate.
